Whiplash is an injury to the neck caused by a rapid forwards and backwards motion of the head. The most common forms of whiplash are neck muscle strains and ligament sprains, but severe cases of whiplash can also include fractures of the cervical vertebrae and nerve damage. Though the most common occurrences are from car accidents, whiplash can be caused through any number of direct contact sports injuries or a fall involving your head or neck. Symptoms can include headaches, blurred vision, and dizziness along with a stiffness and pain in the neck.
