ProEx was once again on hand at the 4th Annual Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race on Saturday, October 6th in Dover, NH. This popular race kicked off the Dover Apple Festival, which celebrated it's 28th Anniversary this year.
The Festival was monumentally attended this year. There were over 50,000 people in attendance, including 545 racers in the 5K road race and hundreds of vendors promoting a product or service. A member from the Chamber of Commerce stated that the Festival being held on Columbus Day weekend, the nice weather, and the number of participants in the road race made this the most successful event in its history.
At the ProEx tent, race participants were given the option to have a physical therapist provide a manual stretch before and after the race. ProEx PT's were also on hand to evaluate injured runners and offer treatment options for their injury. In addition, staff members answered questions and handed out free giveaways to passersby. ProEx also raffled off an iPod Shuffle which was won by Nancy Petlon. Congratulations Nancy!
After the race, everyone congregated on Central Ave, Henry Law Ave and Third street to enjoy the day's festivities which included live music, hay rides, a pie contest, miniature train rides, and a children's play area with pony rides. A fun time was had by all!
"We love these types of events," said Ben Barron, Clinic Manager of ProEx Somersworth. "It's a great way to get out there in the community and educate people on how to prevent injuries."
