ProEx Physical Therapy Set to Celebrate 15th Anniversary

ProEx Physical Therapy celebrates 15th anniversary

PORTSMOUTH, NH ISSUED SEPTEMBER 1, 2016…ProEx, a physical therapist owned private practice specializing in orthopedics, spine and sports medicine is celebrating its 15th anniversary, a decade and a half highlighted by outstanding growth.

The practice was founded by Mike Mulrenan and opened in Woburn on September 24, 2001 in a 300 square foot room at Ironwood Indoor Golf in Cummings Park as a sole proprietorship named Michael J. Mulrenan Physical Therapy.  Within a year he expanded and moved the practice to the Daily Times building on Arrow Drive and transitioned the practice to a new LLC entity called Mulrenan Physical Therapy. It was during this time that Mulrenan’s colleague and friend, Matt McManus, joined the practice ultimately becoming a partner in 2004.  Meanwhile, Joe Dattilo entered into a partnership with Mulrenan and McManus to form Stratham Physical Therapy in Stratham, NH.  Dattilo, a high school friend and football teammate of Mulrenan, had achieved the reputation as one of the New Hampshire seacoast’s premier physical therapists and decided he wanted to open up his own practice, with the assistance of Mulrenan and McManus.

The practice continued to grow, with Steve Swasey joining as a partner in 2005. In 2007, clinician and well respected educator Eric Kopp became a partner, heading up a clinic in Farmington Connecticut.  It was then that the seeds of what was to become ProEx Physical Therapy were planted.  In March of 2008, all three existing practices officially came together as one company – ProEx Physical Therapy.

The next several years brought continued growth and today ProEx Physical Therapy boasts 15 locations in three states, with an employee roster that exceeds 160 and is one of the most sought after practices to work for by physical therapists throughout the region. The company now has eight owners.

“At the core of our success are the people on our team, we truly have built a family,” said Mulrenan, company CEO. “We are privileged to affect the lives of so many patients in the communities we serve and hope to do so for many more years to come.”
