ProEx Participates in 2013 SCORES Cup

For the second year in a row, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and support staff from ProEx Physical Therapy provided on-site game coverage to the America SCORES corporate soccer tournament, held at Gillette Stadium, on Saturday, June 15.

America SCORES Boston is an affiliate of America SCORES, a national organization that focuses on health, fitness, literacy and service learning of students in urban communities. This annual 7v7 soccer tournament has grown to become America SCORES Boston’s largest fundraiser. This year, the event raised over $200,000, enabling over 1,000 inner-city Boston kids to participate in the soccer-based SCORES program.

Hundreds of soccer enthusiasts made up 32 teams from around the region, including State Street, Wells Fargo, Ropes & Gray, John Hancock, KPMG, and Goldman Sachs, among others.

ProEx staff from all of the Eastern MA locations were in attendance as well as some from our business office in Portsmouth, NH. It was a busy day for ProEx as we were hard at work throughout the day, triaging several minor and some serious injuries sustained during play.

"The feedback we received was very positive," said Matt McManus, Regional Clinical Director at ProEx. "We look forward to working with America SCORES again next year."

Here's an example of the positive feedback. We love receiving letters like this one!

Hi Matt,

Wanted to write a note of thanks to the entire Proex physical therapy team that helped out at the America SCORES soccer tournament at Gillette Stadium yesterday.  It is a treat for the entire field of 32 teams to have your staff out there for stretches and massages, and your group is extremely helpful, thoughtful, and supportive.

I especially wanted to express my personal thanks and gratitude.  I was playing goalie in our first game, had a serious collision out near the goalie box, and had significant muscle and back pain.  Your staff thought that I might have a fractured rib/ribs, and urged me to go to the urgent care center at Brigham and Women's.  Your team that treated me, first for stretching and icing, and then, the diagnosis --- were extremely kind, patient, and ever-so-helpful. Please do pass along my sincere thanks for the help they gave me at the stadium.

Hope you enjoy the summer, and again, thank you.

Best regards,
Rick Yu
